Sophie has worked for Mid Essex ITT since 2014 when she was appointed as the Marketing, Recruitment and Adminstration Officer, a newly created role to help boost the number of trainee teachers in local schools. After graduating in Psychology from University College London, Sophie went on to work in a number of student support roles. She was the Coordinator of London Nightline, a telephone helpline for students, for two years and went on to chair the National Nightline Association.
Following that role, she was appointed Project Manager for Studentsinmind, a newly forming charity offering advice and advocacy for students experiencing mental distress. During her maternity leave, Sophie completed consultancy work for University of London, coordinating meetings with key stakeholders and producing their annual report. As a consultant, she also wrote up research reports for the British Youth Council and has also been a trustee for a charity.
Sophie took over the Programme Manager role from Martin Higgon who established Mid Essex ITT at Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form, in 2014, when it moved from Shenfield High School.
