Originally from Middlesbrough, Robert graduated with a degree in Music Technology (BSc) from Leeds Metropolitan University before working as a Deputy Manager for a large entertainment company in both Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Sunderland, then relocating to Essex in 2012.

It was in Essex that Robert trained to be a teacher with Anglia Ruskin University, gaining a PGCE in Computer Science and ICT. He started his teaching career at Hedingham School and Sixth Form, Essex and was promoted there, to his current role of Leader of Computer Science and ICT.

Robert teaches Computer Science and ICT to students across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 with students ranging from 11 years old up to 18. He has programming skills in several languages including Python 3, vBA, Scratch, APP Inventor and Haskell which he utilises fully across all the various courses and qualifications he teaches. Robert has a passion for teaching coding to students and wants all students regardless of age or ability, to gain problem solving and analytical thinking skills through the process of learning a programming language.

Robert took over as Lead Subject Mentor in Computer Science in September 2018 and is looking forward to utilising his experience of teaching Computer Science and his management skills and experiences gained in industry to help guide new trainees through their teacher training years and into their first job in an exciting, fast paced and ever developing subject area.
