Beth Howkins started her career as a GTP through the Colchester SCITT program before working at the Thomas Lord Audley School for 12 years. Having been recognised as an outstanding teacher Beth worked as a lead Literacy teacher for Essex County Council. 

She planned and delivered conferences, along with other practitioners to improve the provision of SAT’s teaching. Whilst working at The Thomas Lord Audley School, Beth held a pastoral position for 7 years. She was initially Head of House at The Stanway federation before being asked to set up similar systems within the Thomas Lord Audley School. For the past 8 years Beth has been an English examiner for AQA and regularly applies this skill and knowledge to further enhance pupils learning. She moved to The Ramsey Academy in January 2015 as an R coach, this was a whole school teaching and learning role to coach and support staff deliver good or outstanding lessons. Beth continues to teach English language and Literature to a full range of ages and abilities. Beth has been the Lead Subject Mentor for English since September 2015.
